BAT HEADBOARD
We have an attic full of books with a mattress for guests to sleep on. Since it is just a mattress on the floor, without bed frame, I wondered how to solve the problem of the missing headboard. I decided it had to be site-specific.
Which animal likes to inhabit attics more than bats?
I liked the idea of messing with the proportions in this quilt to mirror the confusion a dreamer might experience when awakened by a bat swiping past her head in the middle of the night. The bat might appear gigantic, dwarfing the attic window and the moon. At night, reality becomes surreal, distorted. This bat is featured in front of wood panel print to further allude to the attic where bats are commonly found.
This headboard (or wall hanging) is hand-quilted on 100 percent cotton. At 26 x 60 inches, it fits behind a queen-sized mattress. It can be machine-washed and line-dried.
